Glossostigma elatinoides

Product description

About the species

Glossostigma elatinoides from New Zealand is highly sought after in aquariums inspired by the Japanese style. It is one of the smallest aquarium plants (2-3 cm high), and thus a good foreground plant. A difficult plant that requires a lot of light. Grows upwards if the light is poor.

Make sure that larger plants do not shade it. When planting in the aquarium, small clumps (about 1/8 pot) should be placed a few centimeters apart to help the plants grow together faster. CO2 supplementation and soft water promote growth significantly.

FAQ about Glossostigma elatinoides

How do I plant Glossostigma elatinoides?

Remove the plant from the cup, gently rinse away the nutrient gel and divide it into several small portions. Plant them with some space between each portion so they can establish.

Is Glossostigma elatinoides free from snails and algae?

In vitro plants are grown under sterile conditions and normally arrive free from snails, algae and pesticides, making them suitable for sensitive shrimp aquariums.

Does Glossostigma elatinoides need CO₂?

Requirements depend on the species. CO₂ and balanced plant nutrition often produce denser, healthier growth, but follow the light and care requirements in the product description.

What matters during the first few weeks?

Provide stable lighting and nutrition, avoid major changes and remove deteriorating leaves. Newly planted specimens often need time to adapt to submerged growth.
