Hygrophila corymbosa 'Stricta'

Product description

About the species

Large mother plant, grown in a 9 cm square pot. 'Siamensis' comes from Thailand and has stems from 15-40 cm and 10-15 cm wide. The leaves are light green and dense. Plant several stems in a group in the background of the aquarium, cut off the top shoots when they reach the surface of the water and replant these.

They will soon form new roots and continue to grow. In open aquariums, Hygrophila corymbosa 'Siamensis' grows easily above the surface of the water, where it forms blue-green leaves and small blue flowers. It grows quickly and the shoots should be pinched out regularly if you want to keep the plant under water.

An extremely hardy plant, suitable for beginners.

FAQ about Hygrophila corymbosa 'Stricta'

How do I attach Hygrophila corymbosa 'Stricta'?

Divide the moss into thin portions and attach it to rock or wood with thread or aquarium-safe glue. Thin layers receive better circulation and usually grow more evenly.

Does Hygrophila corymbosa 'Stricta' need CO₂?

Most aquarium mosses grow without added CO₂, but steady CO₂, balanced nutrition and stable lighting can produce denser growth.

How do I keep Hygrophila corymbosa 'Stricta' looking good?

Trim regularly and remove loose pieces and debris. Good circulation around the moss reduces trapped dirt that can inhibit growth.

Is the moss suitable for a shrimp aquarium?

Yes, moss provides a large biofilm grazing area and fine hiding places for shrimplets. Always check that the plant is clean before adding it to the aquarium.
