Tangerine Tiger is a tiger shrimp of the species Caridina serrata with warm orange-yellow body colour and fine dark dots and dashes along the sides. It differs clearly from the blue tigers and is one of the easier Caridina to keep.

Behavior

Tangerine Tiger is a peaceful and notably active shrimp that moves openly around the aquarium. It thrives in a group of at least ten and suits a planted nano tank with moss and driftwood.

Reproduction

• Females usually carry 20–30 eggs under the tail
• The eggs hatch after about 30 days as fully developed shrimplets
• The species breeds willingly in fresh water when the values are kept stable

Feeding

Tangerine Tiger is an omnivore and feeds on:

• Biofilm
• Algae
• Organic material

Recommendation

Tangerine Tiger is a good choice if you want to try Caridina without the strict demands of Taiwan Bee. It is productive and quickly builds up a colony. Being a different species it does not interbreed with the bee shrimp.
