Five dried catappa leaves (Terminalia catappa) for the aquarium. The leaves slowly release humic substances that tint the water a light tea colour and give shrimp extra grazing surface.
Add 1–2 leaves at a time depending on tank size and remove them once they are eaten or start to mould. Many shrimp and snails happily graze the soft leaf tissue.
Store the leaves dry. Catappa is a complement, not a replacement for regular food and water changes.

Rinse thoroughly with clean water and remove loose material. Natural items may be soaked and checked more closely; never use soap or cleaning agents.
Position it securely and check sharp edges, tight openings and loose parts. Animals should be able to use hides without becoming trapped.
Natural materials may release tannins or minerals, with effects varying by product. Follow the description and test the water when keeping sensitive species.
Brush or gently rinse in removed aquarium water when needed. Some biofilm is natural and often provides food for shrimp and snails.
