Antenna shell

Product description

Antennal snail (Clithon sp.)

The antenna snail is a small, beautiful and much appreciated algae eater that fits perfectly in both aquariums and aquascapes. It comes in several color and pattern variations, often with decorative stripes, dots or small spines on the shell, making each individual unique.

This peaceful snail helps keep the aquarium clean by grazing algae from glass, rocks, roots and decorations. It is particularly effective against tough green algae that many other algae eaters have difficulty dealing with.

The antenna snail is completely harmless to plants and works great together with shrimps, small fish and other peaceful aquarium inhabitants. The species does not normally reproduce in fresh water, which means that the population does not risk uncontrolled growth in the aquarium.

For the best well-being, a well-established aquarium with a good supply of natural algae and biofilm is recommended. If necessary, the diet can be supplemented with algae tablets and vegetables such as zucchini or spinach.

FAQ about Antenna shell

Is Antenn snäcka a good algae eater?

It grazes on biofilm and many soft algae coatings on glass and décor. It does not replace normal maintenance and needs supplementary food if natural grazing is scarce.

Does Antenn snäcka reproduce in freshwater?

Nerite-type snails may lay eggs in freshwater, but their larvae normally require brackish or salt water. A growing population is therefore unlikely in freshwater.

Does Antenn snäcka need extra calcium?

Stable mineral content and dietary calcium help maintain a strong, healthy shell. Avoid very acidic, mineral-poor water.

Can Antenn snäcka leave the aquarium?

Yes, snails may climb above the waterline. Use a lid and check water quality if a snail repeatedly tries to leave.
