Leopard snail

Product description

Leopard Neritina is a striking algae-eating snail with a unique yellow, orange and black pattern. Each snail has its own individual markings, making it an eye-catching addition to the aquarium while also helping to keep it clean.

The snail continuously grazes on algae and biofilm from aquarium glass, rocks, driftwood and other hard surfaces. It is peaceful and an excellent choice for aquariums with shrimp and other peaceful inhabitants.

Like other Neritina snails, it may lay eggs in freshwater, but the larvae require brackish or saltier water to develop. Successful reproduction is therefore unlikely in a regular freshwater aquarium.

FAQ about Leopard snail

Does the Leopard Neritina eat algae?

Yes. It effectively grazes on algae and biofilm growing on aquarium glass, rocks, driftwood and other hard surfaces.

Can Leopard Neritina be kept with shrimp?

Yes. It is a peaceful, shrimp-safe snail and an excellent choice for shrimp aquariums.

Will it reproduce in freshwater?

It may lay eggs in freshwater, but the larvae require brackish or saltier water to develop. It therefore does not normally reproduce successfully in a freshwater aquarium.

Does it need additional food?

If there is not enough natural algae and biofilm in the aquarium, its diet should be supplemented with suitable snail food.

Do all Leopard Neritina snails look the same?

No. Colour and pattern naturally vary between individuals, giving each snail a more or less unique appearance.
