Product description

About the species

Crinum thaianum from Thailand is a distinctive bulbous plant that belongs to the lily family and has leaves that are 60-200 cm long. It is unassuming except that it needs plenty of space. Plant so that the top 2/3 of the bulb is visible, otherwise the bulb will tend to rot. As the plant grows older, it sometimes sends up a flower stalk to the surface of the water with an aromatic, elegant lily-like flower.

FAQ about Crinum thaianum

How do I plant Crinum thaianum?

Place the roots in nutrient-rich substrate but leave the upper part of the bulb or tuber visible. Burying the entire bulb may increase the risk of rot.

Where should Crinum thaianum be placed?

Give it plenty of room because its leaves may become large and shade nearby plants. Match the position to mature height and aquarium size.

Does Crinum thaianum need extra nutrition?

Root nutrition in the substrate is often valuable for bulb and tuber plants. Add balanced liquid fertiliser when needed and monitor growth.

Should old leaves be removed?

Yes, cut fully yellowed or damaged leaves near the base with a clean tool. Leave healthy foliage so the plant can store energy.
