Red Cherry is the classic red dwarf shrimp and the variant of Neocaridina davidi that made shrimp keeping popular. The colour is red with some translucent areas, giving a lively and natural look. It is extremely hardy and one of the best beginner shrimp in the hobby.

Behavior

Red Cherry is a very peaceful and active shrimp that thrives best in a group. It can be kept together with other peaceful shrimp, snails and calm fish species that require similar water values.

Reproduction

• Females usually release up to 40 fully developed shrimplets
• New broods arrive roughly every 4–6 weeks
• The species breeds readily in fresh water under stable conditions

Feeding

Red Cherry is primarily a grazer and feeds on:

• Biofilm
• Algae
• Organic material
